Growing up, Dr. Haroon was inspired by seeing his father care for sick patients as a doctor. After graduating from University of Kerala Medical College, he came to the United States for further studies and completed residency in internal medicine in Ohio. During residency he was fascinated by nephrology because in his view it was the closest to pure science and mathematics in the field of medicine. He completed his Nephrology fellowship at Detroit Medical Center at Wayne State University and completed his fellowship in transplant nephrology at the UNC.
He enjoys working in remote rural areas as it feels service driven and more fulfilling. He feels patients are very appreciative and overall he enjoys the close-knit relationship built within the community. He also values the work environment due to the great partners at Boice-Willis that he works with, as well as other primary care and consultant physicians in this area.
“I am very proud of the nephrology team at Boice-Wills in Rocky Mount. We are well-known among our peers throughout Eastern North Carolina as a fast-growing practice. We all are well trained, have a very high code of ethics and are hardworking.”
