Boice-Willis Endoscopy

2006 - 2026

Boice Willis Clinic Endoscopy Center Celebrates 20 Years of Excellence in GI Care

The Boice Willis Clinic Endoscopy Center proudly celebrates its 20 year anniversary, marking two decades of exceptional service, clinical innovation, and unwavering commitment to patient care. Since opening on January 16, 2006, the center has become a cornerstone of gastrointestinal health for patients across Eastern North Carolina.

A Record of Quality and Accreditation

In 2007, just one year after opening, the Endoscopy Center earned full accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). It has maintained this prestigious accreditation continuously from 2007 to the present—an achievement that reflects its dedication to safety, quality, and patient centered care.

Two Decades of Impact

Each year, the Boice Willis Clinic Endoscopy Center performs an average of 4,000 procedures and cares for approximately 3,500 patients, making it one of the region’s most active and trusted GI facilities. These procedures play a vital role in early detection and prevention of digestive diseases, including colorectal cancer.

Over the past 20 years, highly skilled physicians have performed procedures; currently Dr. Robert Schellenberg and Dr. Mark Anderson, who have both been part of the Endoscopy Center team since its inception, provide exceptional patient care. Their expertise, combined with a strong commitment to patient well being, has shaped the center’s reputation for excellence.

A Team Dedicated to Compassionate Care

Behind every successful procedure is a team of professionals who ensure patients feel supported, informed, and safe. The current Endoscopy Center team includes registered nurses, surgical/endoscopy technicians, patient care specialists, and a nurse manager. This dedicated group works seamlessly to deliver efficient, compassionate care from pre procedure preparation through recovery.

Anesthesia services during procedures are provided through a long standing partnership with a specialized anesthesia care team.

Dr. Schellenberg and Dr. Anderson recently shared that there has been low staff turnover throughout the years, which has led to maintaining a high standard of care resulting in consistently exemplary patient satisfaction scores. Patients frequently compliment the professionalism and efficiency provided by the entire team at the Endoscopy Center. Dr. Schellenberg stated, “we try to make the uncomfortable comfortable.”

Looking Ahead

As the Boice Willis Clinic Endoscopy Center celebrates its 20 year milestone, it does so with gratitude for the patients, families, and community members who have placed their trust in its care. The center remains committed to advancing GI health through continued investment in technology, clinical excellence, and a patient first approach.

The next 20 years promise even greater innovation—and the same dedication that has defined the center since 2006.
