Growing up in Connecticut, Lisa Bellofiore-Plonski, MD, wanted to become a veterinarian. Around age five, she learned that she might have to put animals to sleep so she pivoted to becoming a people doctor instead. Loving children as much as she does animals, she naturally gravitated to pediatrics.
Dr. Bellofiore-Plonski attended the University of Vermont College of Medicine and did her residency and internships at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Finishing her training in 2007 and tired of snow, traffic and a hectic pace of life, she began looking for a position in the South. She knew about North Carolina because she has family in the Raleigh-Durham area and had vacationed on the Outer Banks. She joined Boice-Willis Clinic in 2007.
As a board-certified pediatrician, she enjoys all areas of the specialty but has a special interest in mental health, particularly ADHD, depression and anxiety, all which are common conditions with limited treatments available. It’s personal for her, as well, since she has ADHD, and openly shares that diagnosis with her patients and their families.
She also has a special affinity for infants and new mothers, watching babies grow physically, and new moms grow in their knowledge and confidence.
Dr. Bellofiore-Plonski and her husband have two daughters. She enjoys exercising, traveling, reading, cooking, baking, and being involved in her church. The family has two dogs and three cats.
“I am so appreciative to be here, among the nicest, friendliest people I have ever encountered. It’s a true give-and-take with every patient because they give me so much warmth and uplift my days.”
