Originally from Cartegena, Colombia, Dr. Luisa Gonzalez moved to the United States when she was 11 years old. Following her undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences, she worked for a scribe company for four years before going back to school to earn her master’s in medical sciences with a concentration in women’s health, followed by medical school in Grenada.

It was during specialty rotations that she found herself drawn to pediatrics because she greatly enjoyed interacting with young patients and their families. She has a special interest in human development before age four, specifically ensuring that her patients meet developmental milestones without delays.

While Dr. Gonzalez began her medical career in California, she was pulled to the East Coast because she has family nearby. She says she chose Boice-Willis Clinic because the practice feels like a family working together to serve children, and the region’s small city/rural town atmosphere offers such a strong sense of community.

Dr. Gonzalez is fluent in Spanish and enjoys poetry, scrapbooking, needlework and spending time with her dog Confetti.

“The close relationships I develop with my patients and their families is so fun and rewarding for me. I love being part of keeping them healthy.”
