Dr. Gandhi grew up in Delhi, India, where he also attended medical school. He was inspired to pursue a career in medicine after he was hospitalized for an infection as a child. He was left with awe that kindness and science combined could make such a difference in someone’s life.
He came to the United States for rotations and completed his residency in Scranton, Pennsylvania, an area similar to eastern North Carolina in that it combined rural medicine with a mid-tier city.
He chose nephrology because he enjoyed the long-term relationships and the special bond that the specialty fosters.
He completed his fellowship at Brown University and then worked in New York, where he treated patients, taught residents and did research.
“At Boice-Willis Clinic, we are fulfilling a definite need in the area, and our patient relationships are very affirming. They trust their medical team, and are compliant and appreciative — the best type of patients a physician could have.”
