Dr. Boyapati pursued a medical career because she saw her grandparents suffering with kidney failure, and knew she wanted to help people.
During residency rotations she was inspired by the knowledge that kidneys directly and indirectly impact all the body’s systems. As part of a program to provide care in underserved areas, she worked in Tarboro where she met nephrologists from Boice-Willis Clinic.
After completing her nephrology fellowship at the University of Washington, the weather and the warm and welcoming work environment brought her back to eastern North Carolina.
As a specialist in hypertension, Dr. Boyapati runs a hypertension clinic and receives referrals from other doctors for complicated cases.
“Patients here are so nice, receptive, compliant, honest and sincere. It’s a wonderful sense of community where everyone knows one another.”
